Understanding energy in the home
This on-line training course, developed by the University of Salford and Property Tectonics, provides a foundation level introduction to the national quest to reduce the carbon footprint of our homes. The course comprises five complementary modules which cover fundamental technological and behavioural concepts and principles. The course covers:
- domestic energy supply and demand
- building fabric and thermal performance
- domestic energy systems
- measuring and monitoring energy use and carbon output
- people and buildings.
The Driving Licence is designed to appeal to a wide audience across all housing sectors and assumes no prior knowledge of energy conservation and building technology. There is no minimum entry qualification or competency level.
Here's how it works
Go to register and provide details of all applicants. Proceed to pay securely through Paypal. You will receive your user name and password by email and away you go.
Once you are logged in, work through each of the modules as you wish. Each module contains a video presentation, comprehensive study notes and a reading list.
Complete the Test
After studying all 5 modules proceed to take the Driving Licence test. Complete the multiple choice questions to achieve your driving licence. If you are referred you can retake the test at no extra charge. Successful candidates will receive the carbon in homes driving licence and the University CPD certificate.
